From our Roots - Meet the designers edition no. 1 DAVID KRYNAUW
Jeppestown Playbench in wenge with leather 'riempies' courtesy of Southern Guild
It was love at first sight when we first
encountered the Jeppestown Playbench by DAVID KRYNAUW, a unique piece commissioned by Southern Guild. From his studio and facility in Lorenzville, Johannesburg, this talented master woodworker experiments with different shapes and forms to create unconventional pieces with immaculate detail and finishing.
Drawing inspiration from the urban energy of the surrounding 'Jozi' neighbourhoods, as well as other typically South African cultural influences such as the Cape Dutch architectural style, from which he has evolved his Heritage range, he creates timeless collectable objects.
